For every talented artist, there is a gang of people eating off their abilities. While there is nothing wrong with a musician taking care of his crew, there is something highly immoral with taking credit for the art and hard work of another person. Stolen art is the basis of several musical lawsuits, and popular R&B crooner Frank Ocean has found himself in the center of a musical legal battle. Ocean is suing his former engineer and producer for attempting to take credit for songwriting on several of his records.

According to TMZ, Om'Mas Keith registered with ASCAP and claimed that he co-wrote 11 songs for Ocean on his Blonde album. The project has 18 tracks. ASCAP or The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers is an American, collects royalties on behalf of musicians.

Ocean claims that he did hire Keith, and paid him a one-time fee to assist with the mixing and mastering of songs. He also states that Keith did not write any of the lyrics, music or melodies for the songs, and insists that a judge should block the producer from getting any songwriter credits.

Ocean's Blonde album was released on August 20, 2016, and debuted at number one on Billboard's Hot 200 chart.
