Michael and Lisa Morrison the couple who owned the gun shop where Nikolas Cruz bought the AR-15 he used to shoot up his former high school have closed their business. Their gun store, Sunrise Tactical Surprise, was open for business for about four years before the Valentine's Day massacre took place leading FBI and ATF agents arrived at their door to investigate the deadly shooting.

The Morrison's say they went through the proper procedures involved in selling the gun to Cruz including background checks and holding the rifle for five days before turning it over to him. They said nothing about the transition seemed suspicious to them. They revealed they were "mortified" after finding out about the event and being responsible for unknowingly selling the rifle to the shooter.

The Morrison's lawyer spoke to reporters and said, "They condemn in the strongest possible fashion anyone who uses any weapon in anger and violence." He continued. "They're good family people who would never advocate violence toward anyone."

After closing the business indefinitely, the couple said they will support any new legislation that will help to keep deadly weapons away from patrons with a history of mental illness. "They feel strongly about supporting measures that would require the disclosure of allegations of mental illness to agencies that govern the approval of firearm sales."

"Out of respect" for those victims and families who have been affected by the tragedy, the gun store will remain shutdown indefinitely.
