For fans who missed the initial release last year, Jordan Peele’s iconic drama thriller Get Out will be screened for free on President’s Day, Monday, February 19.
The movie will be shown in 55 select AMC theaters across the states for fans, free of charge, to commemorate the film’s one-year anniversary. The tickets will be given on a first come, first serve basis, at 7 p.m. local time. The announcement was made in a series of Tweets by Peel on Twitter on Tuesday, February 13. The posts included a short trailer for the film.
Get Out, starring Daniel Kaluuya and Allison Williams, was released initially on February 24, 2017, after premiering at the Sun Dance film festival the previous month. It is up for four Academy Award nominations. The film has been called a modern classic and has been used as a societal commentary to explore racial issues in a fairly comedic light.
In a statement, Universal Pictures, who is helping create this occasion, said, “When Jordan approached us about a way to thank fans one year after the release of Get Out, we thought a Presidents' Day screening during Black History Month would be a wonderful way to commemorate the film's impact.”
