The Cleveland Cavaliers walked into their second matchup against the Boston Celtics with a new passion on Sunday (February 11), capping recent struggles with a dominating 121- 99 victory.

The game marked the first since the Cavs completed a roster overhaul on the trade deadline Thursday, dealing away Channing Frye, Jae Crowder, Derrick Rose, Dwayne Wade, Iman Shumpert, and Isaiah Thomas.

The new-look team walked into TD Garden with acquisitions Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr., Rodney Hood, and George Hill inserted into the lineup. Led by 24 points, eight rebounds and ten assists from Lebron James; the new foursome contributed to the win with 49 points, driven by Clarkson’s 17-point performance.

Aside from providing offense firepower, the new bunch set a different tone seen on the defensive end of the court, holding the Celtics to 26.3 percent from beyond the arc.

Following the game, Lebron James spoke to ESPN about the win, revealing his confidence in the team. “Attention to detail was an all-time high for the first time this season,” said James. He went on to admit that the road win is “impressive,” considering the team only had a few days to practice together, but he understands that it will “take a little time” for the group to mesh.

When asked what abilities about his new teammates will help the club, James stated, “I think the IQ and the passion they play with is going to help out us a lot.”
