Apple may potentially have a big issue on their hands if a man from Florida’s claims regarding explosive headphones holds any truth.

According to Jason Colon of Tampa, Florida, he experienced an issue with Apple’s Airpods product while he was working out. Colon allegedly saw the wireless headphones begin to smoke.

Apples is currently investigating the potential problem which could have been extremely damaging if Colon hadn’t noticed the faulty product and removed it.

The gym-goer said after noticing the smoke coming from the gadget, he took out the headphones and ran to get assistance.

It wasn't until he returned that he noticed the right ear pod exploded. According to Colon, its casing showed clear signs of burns and the internal wiring had been exposed.

He is convinced that the battery is responsible for the damage done to the headphones.

Colon noted to local news Channel Eight, “'It’s the craziest thing I ever went through. I didn't see it happen, but I mean, it was already fried! You can see flame damage. I don’t know what would’ve happened to my ear, but I’m sure since it hangs down, [my] earlobe could’ve been burnt.”

A spokesperson for Apple informed reporters that the claim is currently under investigation.
