The NYPD has arrested 44 people who climbed to a rooftop on the Lower East Side in Manhattan to make a cameo in China Mac's latest music video.
The police report that neighbors called 911 at around 7:15 pm on Saturday (February 3rd) with noise complaints from the roof of the Baruch Houses, public housing in proximity to Houston Street. When police appeared on the scene to respond to the calls, they arrested 37 men and seven women and charged them all with trespassing. Police also recovered a gun and two replica firearms from the scene.
China Mac and Jezz Gasoline are two local rappers; they were shooting a video for their single "Mac Talk." The pair used their social media accounts to promote the filming of the video.
China Mac, born Raymond Yu is a former gang member of the Ghost Shadows, who served ten years in prison for shooting Jin's associate in a Chinatown club in 2003, leaving the victim partially paralyzed. He tried to leave the country and was on the run until December of 2014.
Since his release, he did another short stint in jail and stopped by VladTV to discuss his journey, his music, and prison reform. Both rappers used their social media accounts to promote the filming of the video.
