No I.D. is responsible for a lot of our favorite sizzling drum patterns and some of the dopest instrumentation we've heard in this generation's era of classic records. He's produced songs like Common's classic 'I Used To Love H.E.R,' Kanye's 'Bound 2', Drake's 'Find Your Love,' and surprisingly Big Sean's controversial 'Control.' Not to mention, he's the brilliant mind behind a lot of the instrumentation behind Hov's Grammy-nominated 4:44 album.
Yesterday, Chicago's very own No I.D. stopped by Hot 97's Ebro in the Morning, to flex on the masses and run down a list of some his unknown accolades. Those accolades included some of the heavy-hitters in the industry he's produced for, his beginnings in the Windy City, and the story of how Kanye's late mother, Donda West, reached out to him to mentor Kanye in his music endeavors and keep him from going astray in the streets of Chicago.
Donda West and No I.D.'s mother both worked as teachers in their respective school district and ID's mother asked him to provide West with some guidance. As a favor, I.D. would give young Kanye production tasks to complete, and Ye's sheer determination to achieve them made Kanye a nuisance to the budding No ID at the time.
Even during that time as a teenager, 'Ye knew he would be great and expressed his sentiments towards ID at the time, the two grew to become great friends, and the rest was history.
Check out the full interview for some dope insight on No ID's past and accomplishments and stop by the 6:30 mark for his recollection of the first time he met the superstar and why.
