A correctional officer was arrested in Indiana after police received a tip that she was trafficking drugs. Heaven Fair, who hails from Logansport, was pulled over by police on Highway 218 in Cass County on Monday after an investigation yielded evidence that Fair was involved in the drug trafficking operation.

The tip stated that a correctional officer was trafficking drugs at the Miami County Correctional Facility. After police pulled Fair over, she agreed to a search of her vehicle, apartment, and person. 164 Suboxone strips were found on her person, while 29 grams of crystal meth was discovered at her apartment.

According to americanaddictioncenters.org, "Suboxone sold more units than Viagra and Adderall in 2013", raking in over 1 billion dollars in sales. Suboxone is used to treat heroin addiction, but the drug ended up creating an epidemic of its own after recovering heroin addicts became hooked on the medication.

At Fair's apartment, police also found letters from inmates detailing the methods that would help her smuggle the narcotics into the facility. The confiscated Suboxone and crystal meth amounted to about $25,000. Fair is currently sitting in a Cass County jail, awaiting trial for charges of dealing meth, possession of meth, maintaining a common nuisance, dealing in a schedule III substance and possession of a schedule III substance.
