Three executives at Monster Energy are at the center of four lawsuits filed last year involving assault and sexual discrimination. Head of music marketing Brent Hamilton, vice president John Kenneally, and manager Phillip Deitrich were involved in the lawsuits, which Huffington Post reported on in detail.
The three men are accused of a range of actions, including harassment, bullying, and inappropriate workplace conduct. Hamilton's ex-girlfriend, Sara Rebuse, is also suing the company for negligence, battery, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Rebuse claims that Hamilton choked her, pulled her hair out, and tried to bite off her thumb during an argument in their hotel room in Nashville. Hamilton was arrested following the incident and is expected to appear in a Tennesse court on aggravated assault charges.
Monster responded to Rebuse's allegations, telling the Huffington Post, “There is nothing in Mr. Hamilton’s employment history with Monster, or otherwise, that would have suggested he has a violent or abusive history or that he and his ex-girlfriend would have gotten into a private domestic dispute as alleged.”
The company also responded to the other allegations, saying, "The cases are diverse, unrelated and do not remotely suggest a systemic environment of harassment or discrimination."
