Fat Joe has become the latest rapper to express his disdain for Donald Trump on record. On Tuesday (January 23) the Bronx Rapper went on Buzzfeed's AM to DM Twitter morning show and defended his "f**k Trump" lyrics on his new song "Pick It Up." Joe explained that he is "not a fan" of our current president.

If you remember, Fat Joe teamed up with Tidal after Hurricane Maria devastated his native land of Puerto Rico, to help provide goods and services to the people. Trump and his administration did little to help the citizens, and the island which is a commonwealth of the United States is still mainly without power. Since then, Fat Joe has not appreciated Trump's bigoted comments about immigration from Haiti and other African countries.

Fat Joe feels as though his lyrics are "voicing the opinion of the people."

He went on to tell AM to DM hosts, “We’ve gotta speak for the voiceless,” Fat Joe said. “He left my people in Puerto Rico; people still don’t have power. He disrespected Haiti just last week and Africa. The people speak through me, that’s what hip-hop is all about,” he said.

Fat Joe also spoke about the division that Trump's presidency has highlighted in the United States. He said that the protests across the nation remind him of the Civil Rights movement.

“Forty, 50 million people protesting in the middle of the street,” he said. “This is stuff we read about in the Civil Rights era and all that … it’s crazy that we’re back at this.”
