While many people seem to be questioning Mo'Nique's call for fans to boycott Netflix, Jada Pinkett Smith came to the defense of the comedian. Pinkett affirmed Mo'Nique's statement about women of color, and poor white women being underpaid in Hollywood and other industries.

This conversation moves to the forefront of public opinion after Mo'Nique an Academy Award-winning actress shared a video where she claimed that Netflix only offered her "$500,000 last week to do a comedy special." In comparison, Amy Schumer was offered $11 million but given $13 million after negotiation, while Chappelle and Chris Rock were paid $20 million for their stand-up specials. While many may not agree on Mo'Nique's comedic relevance, this statement has cast a light on the controversy about the gendered pay gap in Hollywood, which negatively affects women, specifically Black women.

In support of Mo'Nique, Jada tweeted out this message:

"You don’t have to like Mo’Nique’s approach," she wrote. "You don’t have to agree with her boycott but don’t allow all of that to make you blind to the fact that non-white women and impoverished white women are underpaid, underrepresented and undervalued EVERYWHERE by EVERYONE."

Jada also called out Hollywood award ceremonies for subbing her co-star Tiffany Haddish during award season.
