The list of players who've been voted in as reserves for the 2018 NBA All-Star Game leaked out to the public before TNT's ceremonious announcement of the 14-man pool, on Tuesday, January 23. Heading the field are Russell Westbrook out of the Western Conference, and Kristaps Prozingis out of the East.

In addition to Westbrook, Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, Karl-Anthony Towns, and LaMarcus Aldridge are up for selection out of the West for one of the two team captains. And from the East, LeBron James and Steph Curry will have a shot at either Victor Oladipo, Kyle Lowry, Bradley Beal, John Wall, Kevin Love, or Al Horford.

Whichever way James and Curry wind up slicing it, the aforementioned stars will serve as backups to any combination of starters: DeMar DeRozan, Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, James Harden, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, and/or DeMarcus Cousins.

Because of the East vs. West format that carried through for the 66 prior exhibitions has been scratched, fans will get to root on their individual favorites, but they will no longer get to root on the conference they favor. James and Curry will get to choose up a team of their respective liking by arbitrary vote; leaving many to wonder what kind of consideration will go into who they each choose to bring over and run the floor with them.
