A Kentucky high school shooting results in 2 dead and at least 12 injured. The tragic incident occurred Tuesday morning (Jan. 23) at Marshall County High School. CNN reports that the fatalities were a male and female student both 15-years-old. The female victim died at the scene, while the male victim passed away at a nearby hospital.

The gunman is identified as a 15-year-old male student and will be charged with murder/attempted murder. "It is unbelievable that this would happen in a small, close-knit community like Marshall County. "This is a tremendous tragedy and speaks to the heartbreak present in our communities", said Gov. Matt Bevin.

This is the first mass-school shooting of 2018. Reportedly, the motive for the shooting is unclear. Detectives are looking into the shooter's home as well as his background.
