President Donald Trump is facing new allegations of racial insensitivity following the release of a Washington Post report concerning the U.S. military intervention in Afghanistan, that makes brief mention of him having a tendency to mock the accent of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi whenever his name is raised in discussion.

According to one section in the Post report, Trump “has been known to affect an Indian accent” to imitate Modi. Albeit the President has been known to share niceties about India's P.M. the general Indian press have not taken well to headlines born out of the article, and have thus begun running their own coverage of the alleged habit. Times of India, the Hindustan Times, and NDTV are among the publications that have joined the HuffPost, Newsweek, and various other media platforms that have begun to contribute to the spreading of the story.

The public will recall Trump getting into hot water after it was widely reported that during a meeting on immigration reform he referred to Haiti, El Salvador, and the nations of Africa as "S**thole" countries. While the latest reports of his affinity for channeling Modi have not yet been confirmed or denied by the White House, it wouldn't be the first time that Trump is called out for fooling around with a foreign accent.

During a press conference to mark Hispanic Heritage Month in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, Trump set the table for soundbites of him trying on a Spanish accent after he exaggerated his pronunciation of "Puerto Rico."
