While fans and friends took to social to express their disbelief and condolences for his loss, Karrueche Tran found herself under fire for an untimely tweet that she posted following the reported death of Fredo Santana.

Hip-hop at large, friends and family are mourning the loss of Fredo Santana, who died yesterday (January 20), reportedly from a seizure. While the exact cause of the seizure is unknown, Santana had recently been hospitalized for liver and kidney failure.

Amidst the support and farewells, Tran took to Twitter to post a comment that many thought was directed at Santana about the use of drinking a concoction of prescription cough syrup, promethazine and other medications known as “lean,” which has been known to be hazardous with overuse.

Tran posted a now-deleted Tweet reading, “LEAN IS WEAK AF #lame #corny #sorrynotsorry." Facing an immediate onslaught of negative comments, she quickly backtracked and deleted the post. The heat in her direction continued making her post a tweet apologizing for her comment.

"That totally came out the wrong way," she wrote. "Wasn't tryna offend anyone. I meant it in general terms. Bad timing" Tran says. When a person on Twitter asked her why she apologized, she stood her ground for her original post and commented on how it was untimely.

"What I said was 1000% true. It was bad timing and seemed directed towards Fredo (RIP) which it wasn't at all."

Santana leaves behind an 8-month-old son.
