As the days leading up to this weekend's conference championship games wore on, the NFL found itself staving off controversy around a viral screenshot taken from the league's official Facebook page, that seemed to promote Super Bowl LII as a game that will undoubtedly match the reigning champion New England Patriots against the Minnesota Vikings.

The NFL's official postseason promotions through this point have included images representing each of the teams that are still active in the chase for the title.

This time around, some fans of the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Philadelphia Eagles were dismayed to see that there wasn't a trace of a jersey bearing the colors and logo of their squad in the Super Bowl promo. The images of Tom Brady and Case Keenum posing above letters reading Super Bowl LII set conspiracy theorists off, and even those who couldn't imagine it signifying the possibility of a set-up felt that it was in the very least disrespectful towards the contenders who still have a fighting chance to prove the AD wrong.

The NFL has since responded to the discrepancy in a statement issued to NJ Advance Media, that read: "It was a regrettable mistake. The ads were mocked up using all the possible combinations, but weren't supposed to go until Monday when the matchup is known. Obviously, someone jumped the gun."
