Baltimore Ravens safety Tony Jefferson misplaced his wallet on Saturday (Jan. 13). The football star waited some time to see if a good samaritan would return the wallet if they found it. However, waiting to take action led to some fraudulent charges on his cards, and to make matters worse it was a holiday weekend, so the banks were closed from Saturday until Tuesday. Jefferson playfully shared the story on his Twitter account.

He tweeted out early Tuesday morning, "lost my wallet Saturday afternoon .. banks closed ... Sunday banks closed... Monday (holiday )banks closed.. literally have had 0 dollars past few days. Just had to ask moms for 5 bucks to go get some rolled tacos lol it’s trivvv."

He would later come back online to share that someone used his debit card to run up at $5,731 bill, spending $2500 of that cash in Footlocker. "Whoever it was lives in Atlanta and bought 2500$ worth of shoes in footlocker.. they spent 5731$ total. Lol, I really really really need that fade .."

In a hilarious twist of events, the person who scammed Jefferson was able to spend thousands of dollars without knowing his pen, but he would later have the card decline when a purchase of his own for $12 was flagged as fraudulent by the bank. "So the bank jus gon fraud alert & decline my card & cut it off when I’m at FedEx for 12$ right now lol. But let somebody run up 2500$ at footlocker in ATL???? Oh ok, that’s a bet."
