Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey made a bold prediction after helping to hold off the dynamic Pittsburgh Steelers offense for a 45-42 Jaxonville win in the AFC divisional round of the NFL playoffs on Sunday, January 14.
"I ain't got too much to say. But, y'all make sure you bring that same energy out here next week and the week after. We going to the Super Bowl and we gonna win that b***h," he said.
His words echoed through a mostly empty Heinz Field, but they carried far and wide with a snippet of the moment going viral on social media.
Ramsey's prediction followed some pretty crude remarks that he made in the locker room immediately after the exhilarating win. "I was wondering why they were so confident ... We stung their a** last time," he told reporters. Ramsey's allusion to "last time" was a reference to the Jags' 30-9 win over the Steelers in Week 5 of the season.
Ramsey would later take to social media, where he finally humbled himself by tweeting: "Excuse my profanity. Just be hype & talking lol."
While predictions have at times served as motivation for underdogs to overcome the odds, Jacksonville will need more than confidence to come out on top in the AFC championship game, where they will take on the defending champion New England Patriots.
