With his alma mater Georgia Bulldogs facing off against their SEC rival Alabama Crimson Tides at home in Atlanta for the College Football Playoff National Championship game on Monday night (January 8), Herschel Walker was in his glory. What's more, the President of the United States of America was in the house, so for a guy like Walker who long supported Donald Trump, the night was bound to be one to remember.

With the hours ticking down until game time, FOX News was sure to get Walker in the building for a sit down with 'Fox & Friends,' where he reiterated his appreciation for President Trump and expressed excitement to see him there.

"Donald Trump is a great man, great president, and I wish people can understand that," Walker said, after calling the kneeling and protests against him "sad."

Walker went on to remind viewers that he played for Trump when the billionaire real estate tycoon got into football with the purchase of the New Jersey Generals of the USFL in the 1980's.

Beyond their relationship, Walker insisted that respect for Trump ought to be an automatic because of his office. “We voted for him to be president, and because of that, we have to respect him as our president,” he said.
