On Wednesday (Jan 3), Isaiah Thomas made his first appearance in Boston since the Celtics traded him to the Cleveland Cavilers in the offseason.

The warm reception for Thomas seemed to ease the ongoing saga between Thomas and his former team. However, before the game, Thomas, who did not play, asked the Celtics not to make him a tribute video.

The Celtics honored Thomas’ request, but they may have created additional problems for themselves. The next time the Cavaliers travel to Boston will be on Feb 11, and the date is already slated for Celtics great Paul Pierce to have his jersey retired.

While he has no ill will towards Thomas, on Thursday’s edition of 'The Jump,' Paul Pierce made his feelings known that he should be the only former Celtics star honored that night.

“Now, I’m not saying Isaiah shouldn’t get a tribute video. On February 11, the night I get my jersey retired, I’m not sure I want to look up at the jumbotron and see Isaiah highlights.” Pierce said. “After all the years I put in -- I had a chance to watch Kobe throughout the game, the timeouts, there was a lot of tribute videos for him, and I enjoyed to watch that throughout the game. Now, hopefully, the Boston Celtics will do that for me, I’m not sure if I wanna see an Isaiah video that night.”
