Lewis Hamiltion publicly apologized on Twitter for his remarks. "Yesterday I was playing around with my nephew and realised that my words were inappropriate so I removed the post. I meant no harm and did not mean to offend anyone at all. I love that my nephew feels free to express himself as we all should", he wrote today.

He went on to say:

"My deepest apologies for my behaviour as I realise it is really not acceptable for anyone, no matter where you are from, to marginalise or stereotype anyone"

"I have always been in support of anyone living their life exactly how they wish and I hope I can be forgiven for this lapse in judgement."

British race car driver Lewis Hamilton is making headlines for "shaming his newphew online." Hamilton recored a video of the young boy standing next to a christmas tree -- wearing a princess dress. Hamilton looks into the camrea and tells viewers that he's "so sad right now"

"Why are you wearing a princess dres?s", Hamilton asks as his nephew laughs. The racing professional follows up with "Is this what you got for Christmas? "He then escalates his voice and says "Boys don't wear princess dresses!"

The clip is currently circulating on social media and receving a bit of backlash. Some people believe Hamilton is humilating his nephew -- and that children should not have to conform to "gender norms" Conversely, some agree with Hamilton's statement.
