Video of an attacker "truck surfing" from the scene of an assault this past week has gone viral. Derrick Maestas was charged with battery for hitting a woman that he was sitting next to on a Lynx bus ride on Monday, December 18.

According to reports, the 20-year-old Orlando resident grew frustrated with how loudly the passenger was speaking on her phone and proceeded to tell her to stop yelling in his ear after punching her in the thigh.

Their confrontation would drag on from that point forward, with Maestas refusing to move out of the way as the woman demanded that he let her pass. After she eventually broke free, Maestas reportedly followed the victim off of the bus, grabbed her by the hair, and threw her to the ground.

The altercation finally came to an end when a man from the bus went outside and intervened. Maestas fled before police arrived, but was spotted riding the back of a tractor-trailer moving along the John Young Parkway. Emergency operators received calls from several drivers who spotted Maestas hanging off of the end of the truck, but one man, in particular, managed to get it on film.

"I thought about getting behind the truck to get a better view, but then again, I thought real quick, and I said, 'What if this man falls? What if he jumps?' I didn't know the state of mind, so I decided just to stay in the right lane and get an idea of what was happening," Edwin Rivera told a local reporter.
