NFL star Cam Newton followed up his Carolina Panthers' 31-24 victory over the Minnesota Vikings with another one of his fashionable looks at a press conference on Sunday, December 10.

While the win could be attributed to his 62-yard run that set the score in the fourth quarter, Cam gives credit for his latest stylings to Atlanta rap legend Andre 3000.

Newton has made it a point to rock new and risky styles, in the way Russell Westbrook has in the NBA, for the better part of the past two seasons. If he isn't introducing a fresh look with his choice of jacket or pants-wear, Cam is usually drawing attention with a new type of hat. This time, the former league MVP came to the podium with a brimless burgundy hat that bore a feather and the word "Love" on the left side.

Many on social media assumed Cam was trying his hand at a modern incarnation of the fez, which has roots in Morocco but has been adopted by various cultures around the globe. However, he says he put a call in to Venice, CA to have his regular designer, Alberto Hernandez of Nick Fouquet Hat Maker, put something together after seeing what Andre Benjamin was wearing in the October issue of GQ magazine.

"I look in NBA, NFL, baseball ... ain't nobody seen a brimless hat," Newton told reporters, after making mention of the Outkast rapper. "I wanted to put the one behind the scenes with the brimless hat. So you seen it here first. Cam Newton. Brimless hat."
