Conor McGregor has made it clear that he still intends to fight professionally, but the question has become for which sport. McGregor has not guaranteed a return to the UFC or boxing but has promised to follow the money. He believes that his larger than life persona has transcended both sports and as a result, he should be accurately compensated.

“My focus is getting back into the right ring or Octagon,” McGregor said. “2017 was historic. I have transcended both the sport of MMA and boxing. At this stage of my career, as it has been for the majority of my UFC career, potential opponents must lobby for fights with me. We could see Conor McGregor anywhere. I run the fight game, the fashion game, the whiskey game, or whatever the next business endeavor might be.”

McGregor continued on his potential return to the UFC after clearing a rumored $100 million payday with the Mayweather fight. “I have every intention of fighting in 2018 if my compensation and business development endeavors accurately reflect my influence on combat sports.” Obviously, McGregor is not committing to fighting in 2018, but if the money is right we may see a return to some sort of prizefighting. However, don’t be surprised if we see McGregor use his star power in some other form of entertainment.
