Since Philadelphia native and rapper Meek Mill was incarcerated for violating his probation, he has received an outcry of support locally and nationally.

He has had support from prestigious civil rights leaders as well as entertainers and basketball stars who have condemned the criminal justice system and their harsh punishment. In many regards, Meek has become the poster child of a criminal justice system that systematically targets persons of color, often times using probation as a system of control.

Recently, the injustice was such that Philadelphia 76ers co-owner, Michael Rubin, spoke out in support of Meek as well.“He was at too many games because he wasn’t allowed to leave the city,” Rubin said. “It didn’t make any sense to me. His job is to perform, and the judge wasn’t letting him perform. He was giving up millions of dollars.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“Everything I’d heard about this judge was accurate, Had I not seen it in person, I probably would not have gotten to this point of feeling like I have to stand up for him because he’s being treated so unfairly, and he can’t do this on his own.”

Meek was recently denied parole from the same judge who ordered he be incarcerated against the wishes of the district attorney. Stay posted for more updates.
