Many people have been debating Cardi B's blackness and the erasure of Afro-Latinos in the mainstream media. Earlier this year, Cardi B spoke on colorism and latinxs being mixed with African ancestry, which has now gone viral because of skyrocketing fame and how loaded the N-word has become. Cardi said using the N-word is normal for her and that all minorities are viewed the same by white people.
"It seems like something that is so normal, which is bad but it is what it is. My father's side, we're Hispanic and everything. But where did them Hispanic people [come] from? Where them Latino people came from? They're mixed people. We're mixed with African, European. What am I considered? At the end of the day, Latino and Hispanic [people] are considered a minority...we are all considered the same to them."
