The shortlist of candidates for TIME's 2017 Person of the Year was revealed earlier today (December 4). The honor recognizes the person or group of people who have most impacted the news within the year, where that be good or bad. This year's list includes North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, Chinese president Xi Jinping, Colin Kaepernick, special prosecutor Robert Muller, "Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, #MeToo campaign, and Dreamers. Despite Trump's past wrangling with the title, he has also made the list.
While many have their eye on Kap as the winner of the honor, Larry King is shocked by the quarterback turned full-time-activist being considered a top candidate. TMZ caught Larry in Los Angeles leaving Craig's and asked him who he thought would snag the title. "Who do you think should be Person of the Year? Kaepernick and Trump have the same odds," the cameraman revealed.
"Kaepernick?", questions King. "I think the 'Person of the Year' will be (Robert) Mueller ... or (Vladimir) Putin. Because they are both big names and Trump didn't want to be interviewed. Trump is one of the finalists, but he didn't want to be interviewed, so I don't think they'll pick him," King responded.
Larry King was referring to Trump's outburst on Twitter last month about the process for TIME's selection. "Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named 'Man (Person) of the Year,' like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!", Trump tweeted.
