Texas representative Al Green avoided the possibility of past sexual assault allegations coming back to bite him, by linking up with his accuser to announce that the matter has been "absolutely resolved," on Monday, November 27.

In May of 2007, Green reportedly had a sexual encounter with the former director of his Houston office, Lucinda Daniels. In 2008, Daniels filed sexual harassment charges against Green, claiming that the congressman's actions at her home eighteen months earlier were uninvited. But after Green responded with a lawsuit, Daniels dropped the charges and together with Green released a statement that read, in part, "They regret any circumstances that created this dispute."

Green and Daniels have apparently been in conversation about coming back to the public with transparency about the incident. In their address to the public on Monday, they underscored that due to the current political "climate" they were going public to "jointly quiet any curious minds about our former and present relationship with one another."

"This matter has been resolved without payment of any money or transfer of any consideration of any kind by either of us to the other," Green told members of the press. "As friends, we have both agreed that we see no need to make further statements regarding this absolutely resolved matters."
