Ivanka Trump took to Twitter yesterday to condemn the media coverage of former President Barack Obama's eldest daughter, Malia. She tweeted, "Malia Obama should be allowed the same privacy as her school-aged peers. She is a young adult and private citizen, and should be OFF limits." Malia Obama is currently a freshman at Harvard. This past week, viral videos of Malia Obama blowing smoke rings and kissing a young male before a football circulated through media outlets and tabloids.

Ivanka Trump wasn't the only member of the First Daughter's Club that came to Malia Obama's defense. Chelsea Clinton also tweeted, “Malia Obama’s private life, as a young woman, a college student, a private citizen, should not be your clickbait. Be better.” Both Ivanka Trump and Chelsea Clinton are familiar with invasive tabloid coverage as residents of the White House and as private citizens due to the fact that their parents live such high profile lives.

Chelsea Clinton has spoken out against the media coverage of White House children before. In August, when media outlets were critiquing Barron Trump's fashion choices, Clinton tweeted, "It's high time the media & everyone leave Barron Trump alone & let him have the private childhood he deserves."
