President Donald Trump tweeted on Friday that Time Magzine told him that he was "probably" going to be named the magazine's person of the year, but that he turned the offer down. This was later disputed by the magazine itself.

Trump tweeted, "Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named “Man (Person) of the Year,” like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!" Trump was Person of The Year last year.

Time Magazine responded swiftly tweeting, "The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6."

Time Magazine has been selected their "Man of the Year" since 1927. The accolade recognizes the person who has made the most influence in that year - for better or for worst. The publication invites readers to vote on who should win the award and the winner is selected by the editors.

This isn't Trump's first run-in with Time as the Washington Post reported that Trump's golf clubs feature a fake copy of Time Magazine that features him on the cover.
