21 Savage recently spoke out against some of hip-hop's O.G.'s regarding the criticism heaped upon the younger generation. No matter the content or style of the music, 21 argues that the older generation of rappers just don't want to embrace what the new generation is doing. But one O.G. that 21 does have in his corner on this topic is T.I.

Tip took to Instagram to offer his take on the matter. In the caption of his screenshot of 21 Savage's message, Tip wrote, "@21savage lil bro speaking real truth tho. The fact of the matter is... There's been good, bad, great, mediocre artists,&otherwise in EVERY generation .... Even ours(2000s) , The Founding era (80s) & the golden era of the 90s..."

He continued to say that there has never been an era without mediocre music and that this generation isn't the only one to make "user music" after pointing to Dr. Dre's The Chronic and Three 6 Mafia's Sippin On Some Sizzurp as earlier examples of rappers speaking openly about drug use.

T.I. spoke about this generation having the stage. He stated:

Regardless of the subject matter...This is THEY TIME. Couldn't nobody tell us how to run ours,or make us sound how they thought we should... Live ya life & do ya stuff young'n," he wrote, "Just bare with us,&try to understand .... y'all niggaz kinda different & take some getting used to. As the elders gotta understand they're SUCCESS JUSTIFIES the CHANGE. The Numbers DONT LIE!!!

This is an interesting twist in the ongoing generation debates about hip-hop, especially coming on the heels of the Pete Rock - Waka Flocka exchange.

What are your thoughts? Do you agree with T.I. or are you in the Pete Rock camp? Let us know in the comments below.
