On family feud, Jay defended the new generation of rappers catching heat from the past generation stating, “Old nxxxx’s stop acting brand new, like 2pac didn’t have a nose ring too.”

Some agreed with Jay and have continued to champion the new generation, while others completely disagreed.

Pete Rock recently came forward airing his frustrations with the new generations lack of respect for those that paved the way for them and the glorification of drug culture within music, while placing Waka Flocka in the center of his cross hairs.

Posting a picture of Waka on his IG, Rock began by making it clear that the new generation is nothing like the past.

“Im gonna defend my older heads and tell you your not equal. Be as disrespectful as you want. Your not doing what we did, havent accomplished what we accomplished.”

Rock went on to compare the new and old and discussed how their elders never experimented with pills or syrup along with all the accolades they’ve received over time.

“Our generation didnt experiment with pills or syrup or anything synthetic. Its already written in history. Rock n Roll hall of fame, hip hop hall of fame and museums.”

Rock furthers his point by saying he attempted to listen to the new generations music, but it did not appeal to him and blames the lack of connection existing in the music today because the new generation never paid homage to those that laid the groundwork for them.

“Where are you at in any of that? The problem is yall never had respect from the jump. WE ARE THE REASON YOUR WHO YOU ARE AND DO WHATEVER IT IS YOUR DOING! Pay homage to who was before you.

Flocka responded making it clear that he doesn’t do those drugs either and threatened to slap Rock.

This has been an on-going question in hip-hop for some time. Does the new generation need to thank their elders?
