Lining up for highly anticipated sneaker drops has been a staple in the game for years. As the hype builds, collectors, hypebeasts, resellers, and fans gather to get their hands on whatever coveted item is being released. This time it was Pharrell x Adidas NMDs, which was released last weekend at Concepts in New York. As you can see in the video, a fight broke out in the store and spilled out into the street, where customers began throwing hands, presumably to defend their precious product.

These shoes, like all hyped items, were released on an extremely limited run, thus making them very difficult to obtain. Shoes like the Pharrell x Adidas NMDs are resold on the market for exorbitant prices. As the lines get longer, the shoes become harder to buy, and, inevitably, tensions rise. The video of the fight has been making its rounds on social media, thus begging the question: is it really worth it? In response to the violence, Adidas issued a statement on Twitter reporting that all sales of the Pharrell NMDs would be temporarily “suspended.”

A similar case of fighting over the new Pharrell shoe was also reported in Malaysia. A video of the incident was posted on Reddit, where a man gets punched in the face waiting for the shoe.

Let us know in the comments what you think of Pharrell’s new shoe, if it’s worth the hype, and is it really worth it?
