Joining fellow (former) Bay Area sports star, Colin Kaepernick, Kevin Durant has graced GQ magazine’s cover as Champion of the Year. As recorded in a post-game interview for the San Francisco Chronicle, Durant calls this title “an honor” - "I'm just honored to be on the (GQ) cover with him (Colin Kaepernick), with someone whose words started a conversation that was needed in this country. It's an honor, it's a blessing,” Durant states. This GQ cover tops off an exciting year for the NBA player, who just joined the Warriors in the 2016- 2017 season.

Though he isn’t being recognized for his political activism, unlike Kaepernick, Durant's “Champion” title, per GQ, is well-deserved. Given his achievements in 2017, there is no word more fitting to describe the star. In 2017, he saw his team to a world championship, as well as earning a Finals MVP trophy.

The NBA star dons a green velvet blazer and a gray knit top with “warriors” (unsurprisingly) printed across the front. As for the GQ interview, allegedly, it was conducted in Delhi, India, and touches on several topics we’ve all been waiting to hear about - the tweets from a burner account, playing in opposition to Lebron James, Jay-Z’s album, and more.
