LiAngelo Ball and two of his UCLA teammates were recently arrested in China for allegedly shoplifting at a Louis Vuitton store. The arrest took place this past Tuesday, and according to reports, the young men were not allowed to be in contact with any of their coaches for hours until their release. Ball and his teammates were out in China for a pre-season exhibition game against Georgia Tech that was set to take place on Friday (November 10).

LaVar Ball, LiAngelo’s father, chimed in with his own thoughts on the situation, noting that he has no worries. Ball told ESPN, “I’m going to wait until I get more intel on what’s going on. He’ll be fine. Everyone’s making a big deal. It ain’t that big a deal.”

Despite what LaVar Ball is saying about how severe the situation is, other athletes and former athletes have chimed in with their own thoughts. Former Laker Devean George recently offered his thoughts to TMZ, saying, “It’s scary when you get accused of something in another country. The same rules we have here they don’t apply everywhere. You gotta be real careful when you’re doing stuff overseas or if you’re in another country. The first thought that comes to my mind is I’m scared for him.”
