An elementary school parent was taken into custody on Tuesday, October 31st after holding a teacher hostage in Riverside, CA. According to reports, the incident occurred around approximately 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, when the suspect confronted a teacher after failing to follow the school's parent check-in protocol. The suspect allegedly hit the teacher in the face, bloodying his nose and effectively breaking it. The suspect was reported to have then turned his attention to the first-grade teacher, Linda Montgomery, who he took hostage after the initial altercation.

The police department ordered the SWAT team to rescue the hostage. At approximately 5:50 p.m. local time, SWAT entered the classroom, using flash-bang grenades to disorient the suspect who was wheeled out of the building around 6:00 p.m. local time.

Castleview Elementary School was on lockdown during the ordeal until all 670 students could be safely escorted away from campus.
