Ivanka Trump has called for “a long-term congressional fix” to protect recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

“Well, I think this is a very complicated issue that needs a long-term congressional fix,” Trump said onstage during Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit Monday, October 9. Back in September, President Donald Trump announced he was giving Congress six months to create a permanent solution to DACA.

The Obama-era program provides temporary protection from deportation to young undocumented immigrants brought into the United States by their parents. The move to end the program led many to call out the president, including Sen. Bernie Sanders who called the move “the ugliest and most cruel decision made by a President of the United States in the modern history of this country.”

However, it seems Ivanka Trump shares her father’s sentiments that Congress should work to find a solution. “"I personally am of the opinion, and the President has stated that we have to figure out a good solution that protects these innocent people, many of whom were brought into this country as children," Trump said. "There has to be a long-term fix, and it cannot be bandaged over at a presidential level through another executive order that can be rescinded through another administration.”
