While shopping at adidas online, a shopper noticed an unusual picture while trying to purchase a pair of sneakers last week. Twitter user @Kid_Grusum posted a screenshot on Friday, Sept. 22, from adidas.com that includes a
Nazi flag.

‪@Kid_Grusum‬: “Went to order @adidasoriginals spzl stuff and this was how I had to prove I wasn't a robot. Seems inappropriate”

The image appeared during the checkout process. Adidas uses a service through Google called ReCaptcha to make sure that human customers and not automated bots are the ones buying sneakers. The service asks users to identify images matching a certain label, taking tagged images with keywords from a certain database.

According to Sole Collector, an adidas spokesperson said that the brand is in talks with Google to make sure this particular image doesn't appear on its site again. “We sincerely apologize," a spokesperson said. "We stand for equality and inclusion and denounce any symbols that contradict those values."

Adidas also encountered some trouble earlier in the month.

Jim Gatto, the Director or Global Marketing for Adidas Basketball, was charged with paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes to steer top prospects to Adidas sponsored colleges. TMZ Sports got their hands on court documents outlining Jim Gatto's involvement which includes, trying to pay one player and his family $100,000 to get him to a school of Gatto's choice, and giving another player $150,000 with the expectation that the player would sign with Adidas when he went to the NBA.

Adidas claims they were unaware of Gatto alleged arrangements to pay high school players. The company later released the following statement, "Today, we became aware that federal investigators arrested an Adidas employee. We are learning more about the situation. We're unaware of any misconduct and will fully cooperate with authorities to understand more."
