Macklemore fans may be mourning the Grammy Award winning rapper were it not for a stroke of good luck that spared his life heading into the weekend. It is reported that he got into a head-on car accident in Washington last Friday, July 28, and although emotionally shaken, he walked away uninjured from the collision.
Macklemore had been traveling through the island of Langley with two passengers when at around 10:45 p.m. he was blindsided by a 1986 Chevrolet pickup truck. The truck was said to have been rounding a bend, and crossed over into oncoming traffic just as Mack's 2016 S-Class Mercedes-Benz was about to pass it by. The vehicles two other occupants suffered minor cuts, but Macklemore was miraculously able to take immediate control of the situation.
The driver of the truck had to be woken back to consciousness when police arrived, as he had been knocked out and left bleeding from a clash with the windshield. He was then determined to have been intoxicated after responding to an officer's inquiry into how much he had to drink by stating "5 o'clock." The driver was arrested and charged with DUI.
