Prior to a meeting with the Senate Intelligence Committee scheduled for Monday, Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser, said in a statement, "I did not collude, nor know of anyone else in the campaign who colluded, with any foreign government."

In the 11-page statement, Kushner contends that he had "hardly any" contact with Russia throughout the Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.

Kushner was in attendance for a meeting with a Russian lawyer last summer along with Donald Trump Jr., who released emails which showed that the meeting was presented as an opportunity to obtain damaging information about Hillary Clinton.

"When I got there, the person who has since been identified as a Russian attorney was talking about the issue of a ban on U.S. adoptions of Russian children," Kushner's statement reads. "I had no idea why that topic was being raised and quickly determined that my time was not well-spent at this meeting."

Kushner is also expected to meet with the House Intelligence Committee.
