The rerun of a "Southern Charm" week episode of Wheel of Fortune that originally aired in March, caught fire on social media over the weekend when people began retweeting a screenshot of a backdrop that included two black women dressed in slave era clothing.

"Someone please tell me why @WheelofFortune has slaves in their 'Southern Charm Week' images?" a user named Joshua Itiola took notice and tweeted. He was one of the numerous followers to pass the image along, which the show's executive producer has since apologized for using in the show, and vowed to clip it from future airings. “We regret the use of this background image, and we will be replacing it moving forward on any re-broadcast,” said Harry Friedman in a statement issued to the New York Daily News.

A spokesperson for Louisiana's Oak Alley Plantation, where the photo shoot was taken back in 2005, claims that while images are indeed taken to capture the essence of the time period, they hire tour guides of all races to wear the wardrobes, thereby inferring that the race of the two women behind Pat Sajak and Vanna White is completely coincidental.
