Lil Uzi's track "XO TOUR Llif3” is a bonafide hit record.

Since debuting almost three months ago and appearing on the Billboard Hot 100 at #49, it has amassed an enormous amount of streams.

It has 92 million streams on Soundcloud, 162 million streams on Spotify, and the trippy visual has about 181 million streams on YouTube.

With all of those streams, his single has steadily climbed the Hot 100 chart over the past ten weeks and is now sitting comfortably in the top ten at #9. Previously, the song peaked at #8.

Even though the TM88-produced track is a smash hit, many people have been left somewhat confused about the meaning of the chorus, "All my friends are dead."

Have no fear though, TM88 is here to break it down for us. The producer recently sat down with Genius to break down the beat and to elaborate on what Uzi meant by the line.

He said, "Everybody else says it makes them feel like their friends are dead, but I know the concept. At first, I was like, 'This nigga crazy...' But then, they were like, 'Nah, bro, I think he's talking about dead presidents.'"

With that confirmed, TM88 also revealed how the beat almost never made it to daylight.

He explained that it was a three-year-old instrumental that he had worked on with JW Lucas, but it never amounted to anything. TM88 said he thought it was "cool," but it was too slow to go to the clubs.

After chatting with the rapper about working together, he knew Uzi wanted their track to get airtime in the clubs, so he sped it up from 148 to 155 (bpm) and changed around the notes as well. The rest, well, is history.
