Gerald Saluti, the former lawyer of Max B, is now in trouble of his own as he was recently indicted on May 17, 2017 for misusing funds amounting to $140,000 and lying under oath to try and get away with his illegal activity. New Jersey's Division of Criminal Justice reported that Saluti and his partner Richie Roberts worked together with an administrator at their firm to steal settlement money and escrow funds from four of their clients from 2012 to 2013. Richie Roberts and his likeness was featured in the 2007 film 'American Gangster,' as he had a role in taking down heroin dealer Frank Lucas.

According to Elie Honig, the division's director, Saluti and Roberts made "their attorney trust account like a personal slush fund that they spent on everything from cars and entertainment to, in Roberts' case, paying alimony." After clients began to hit them with complaints about lost funds, Saluti and Roberts tried to shift the blame to their administrator Gabriel Iannacone. In January 2017, Iannacone ended up pleading guilty to 3rd-degree theft charges. Despite the indictment, Roberts maintains that he is innocent.
