Charlamagne was bestowed with a high honor in his native South Carolina over the weekend when the mayor of Columbia declared that the town will be celebrating a day in his name.

Charlamagne received a plaque certifying the distinction for him, after speaking before dozens of young professionals as the keynote guest at the second annual Columbia Career Connect Conference.

“It's like you’re paying it forward, like what’s the point of you getting experiences, and what’s the point of you being in certain positions and not sharing that information,” Charlamagne said, of his choice to accept the invitation to attend the event. “People share information with me all the time and that’s how I’m able to grow. So why wouldn’t I share information with other people?”

Charlamagne tha God Day will roll around every August 8 in Columbia, SC.
