For the last few years, Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, has been in South Africa and was not permitted to leave until recently. The rapper was detained in South Africa after he attempted to leave using a World Passport. Now, Bey is allowed to leave after issuing an apology to the South African government. South Africa's home affairs department issued a press release which said "Yasiin Bey has unreservedly apologized to the Government of South Africa. The department is satisfied with the apology and will withdraw the charges against him."
According to South Africa's Home Affairs department, Bey was deemed an "undesirable person, " and the artist will no longer be allowed re-entry to the country.
