An Atlanta rapper who has collaborated with a couple of the biggest names in hip-hop, was shot after exchanging fire with a police officer on Saturday [June 4]. The gunshots rang out in Buckhead, when police arrived in response to report of a home invasion. Both the officer and suspect Michael Thomas, who goes by the rap alias Diego Dose, were struck, with the officer's life being spared by his bulletproof vest before he took Thomas down with two shots to the chest.

Authorities received a call informing them that Thomas, along with accomplice Antonio Bell, had kicked the door in and forcefully entered one of the Brookwood apartments at around 3:30 pm. They would soon arrive to reportedly discover the suspects still in the act, but not before Thomas fired on the officer upon witnessing him arriving on the scene. The officer, who was in the hallway when he was blasted, was able to return fire past the busted door, and recover to make the arrests.

Thomas, who was once signed to DJ Clue's Desert Storm label under the moniker Young Dose, is noted for having recorded tracks with Fabolous, Future, and more. But his criminal rap sheet is reported to be just as long as his music credits, which will weigh against him when he stands trial. He remained in recovery at a local hospital, while Bell was arraigned in court on Monday.
