Bronx rapper French Montana did The Wendy Williams Show on Tuesday [June 7], where he touched on everything from his custom made Yeezys, to his pet monkey and new mansion in Calabasas, CA, before addressing what terms he is on with the family slain protege Chinx Drugz. Williams opting to bring the topic to question stems from an interview Chinx's mother did a memorial to mark the one year anniversary since his death. According to French, while he has love for the mother of the once promising Queens rapper, she and he had no relationship and had only met once before coming face to face at his funeral.
"P. Diddy and French Montana need to come out and see me," Veronica Clinton was recorded telling a reporter before a group of mourners last month. "They ain’t said nothing to me since my child been dead. Even when my child was dead they didn’t say nothing to me."
Chinx, born Lionel Pickens, was shot in a hail of bullets during what was reported to have been a drive by in the early morning hours of May 17, 2015. He, along with passenger Antar Alziadi had still be out navigating the streets of Briarwood, Queens following a Saturday night club performance when they were ambushed at around 4 a.m. He was rushed to Jamaica Medical Center where he was pronounced dead with gunshot wounds to the torso.
French explained to the audience that when he signed the artist to his Coke Boys label, he had been actively selling drugs. By putting him on, French said, he afforded him the opportunity to elevate his family to a better environment. “I never spoke to her when he was alive. I might have spoken to her one time. The second time I spoke to her was at the funeral and she asked me, ‘What’s going on with my son?’ I said I told him to stay out the streets, don’t be driving around 4 in the morning by yourself or with another person," French said.
