On Monday (May, 16), Ciara and her ex-fiance Future met in court after prior reports revealed that the “Body Party” singer’s legal team would be questioning Future under oath. The drama between the two escalated to a point of no return back in January after Future went off on a Twitter tirade aimed at Ciara where he referred to her as a "controlling b*tch" and insinuated he paid $15K in child support for their son, little Future. Shortly after, Ciara filed a $15 million dollar defamation lawsuit to which Future countersued. Earlier this week, the two finally faced off in court.
Back in January, Ciara formally filed a lawsuit against her ex for slander and defamation of character. The lawsuit claimed that Future was maliciously trying to damage her career by speaking negatively to the public in reference to her. Directly following the news of the lawsuit announcement, email correspondence between both Ciara and Future’s lawyers were leaked to the public. In the chain of emails, Ciara’s lawyers draws several references to Future’s blow up via Twitter in January, and even suggests that if Future only apologized and retracted his statement regarding Ciara, the lawsuit would go away. However, instead of the situation blowing over, Future, countersued his baby’s mother claiming that her career was long over before his tweets came along. He even accuses Ciara of using Russell Wilson and their son to garner publicity. On Monday, alleged footage of both Ciara and Future going before the judge was captured in a grainy 15-second video.
Although the court proceedings for the two’s pending lawsuit is just getting underway, Ciara may have already scored a small victory. The “Dance Like We’re Making Love” songstress took to Twitter on Monday afternoon and tweeted, “Where there’s faith, there’s hope. God is an awesome God.” Apparently after just one day in court, Future finally removed the series of tweets taking aim at Ciara prior to him dropping, Purple Reign at the top of the year. Looks like we’ll have to stay tuned to see how the family drama plays out.
