Drake continued his 2016 take-over Saturday night, as NBC made way for his well publicized stint as the host of Saturday Night Live. Aside from the variety of characters he would deliver, the Views rapper dedicated a good portion of the episode to self-deprecation. During his late night residence he took fans back to a review of the year, impersonating Rihanna and recalling his viral hit "Hotline Bling" video. All of that accounted for, he wouldn't let the night be complete without touching on his quarrels with Meek Mill, parodying their feud with a skit titled "Drake's Beef".

In the clip a passive aggressive Drake is easily ticked off, interpreting some pretty insignificant actions by fellow cast-mates as slights. The skit begins with the camera zoning in on him going into his own thoughts as he feels insulted by a sarcastic comment Pete Davidson makes about him being able to turn on the TV. Each time Drake feels disrespected throughout the 2:45 second sketch, he appears to shake it off but his inner thoughts stage an assault of rap bars. After Davidson he goes after Leslie Jones for failing to respond to him with a hello in passing, disses a janitor for discarding his water bottle, and catches a fit when Aidy Bryant moves his hat so that he may take a seat. Drake even goes in on executive producer Lorne Michaels for complimenting him with a simple "good job".

The Degrassi alum opened the show with an emotional monologue in which he decries that he is "more than a meme". He rounded the episode out in typical SNL style, assuming an assortment of roles that included him playing a Canadian contestant on Black Jeopardy!, a love lost rental car service employee, and putting a twist on American Ninja Warrior announcer Akbar Gbajabiamila.
