In another twist that sparked some outrage, George Zimmerman says he's auctioning off the gun he used to kill Miami teenager Trayvon Martin. The online auction starts Thursday and the opening bid is set at $5,000 for the Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm pistol, which is being auctioned on GunBroker.com

Zimmerman made the announcement Wednesday (May 11) night during a newscast on Orlando's WOFL television. He was asked for his reaction to people who feel the sale is in bad taste, and Zimmerman responded by claiming that those who don't approve of the auction wouldn't be bidding anyway, so he doesn't care what they think.

The Department of Justice concluded there was insufficient evidence to charge Zimmerman with a hate crime.  He says they recently returned the gun to him.

“The pistol currently has the case number written on it in silver permanent marker. Many have expressed interest in owning and displaying the firearm including The Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C.,” Zimmerman wrote.

He added, “This is a piece of American History. It has been featured in several publications and in current University textbooks. Offers to purchase the Firearm have been received; however, the offers were to use the gun in a fashion I did not feel comfortable with.”

Zimmerman reiterates that the gun is a piece of American history and some of the proceeds from the auction will be used to fight against BlackLivesMatter (BLM), Hillary Clinton and Florida State Attorney Angela Corey.

“I am proud to announce that a portion of the proceeds will be used to fight BLM violence against Law Enforcement officers, ensure the demise of Angela Correy’s [sic] persecution career and Hillary Clinton’s anti-firearm rhetoric. Now is your opportunity to own a piece of American History.”

He signed the auction listing with the Latin words, “Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum,” when translated means, “If you want peace, prepare for war.”

Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter in the shooting death of Martin three years ago. The controversial Stand Your Ground law was critical to his case.
